First, I want to thank you for considering “Roger’s
Retreat” for your getaway. “Roger’s
Retreat” has a lot to offer folks of all
interests and ages. But before I go into that detail, I would like to
tell you a little about myself and how “Roger’s
Retreat” came to be.
Smith Mountain Lake became a local attraction around the late 1960s.
I discovered it in the mid 1970s while still in college. It was a
favorite place to “hang out” with friends. But even at that age, I
wanted “a place at the lake” not only because it was fun, but I saw
the tremendous investment potential. In 1979, with a new job and 20%
interest rates, I took a chance and bought my first waterfront property.
Since that time, I continued to enjoy and invest here. Although I have invested in many venues in life, real estate is one
of my favorites, and I have chosen it as my profession. I am a ten year
professional “Associate Broker” working with MKB Realtors, one of
the largest regional forms in our MLS. I am also on the Roanoke Valley
Association of REALTORs Board of Directors, which develops policy and
practice for our entire profession. I also chair a few committees when
asked. And as a REALTOR, I invest as well as buy/sell to others. Eventually, I became involved in a real estate transaction on my lake
property that netted me quite well. After 25 years of playing and
investing at Smith Mountain Lake, I now had the money (thanks to a 1031
tax exchange) and knowledge to have what I wanted. Why I chose this
particular house is left for another section, but this house to me is my
chance to walk away from the trivials of life, kick back, and enjoy my
time away. I want you to feel the same while you are here at my home. I
have gone to great lengths to try to accommodate you, and I want you to
enjoy all that |
